Join us for our free, guided kayak/canoe paddles on Thursdays. We will pass through various local conservation lands, including some of our own Westerly Land Trust preserves. The paddle times will be between 1 ½ to 3 hours. We will meet at put in points and carpool to takeout sites unless otherwise stated. We will shuttle vehicles at 9:30 AM except as noted below. Be aware that our trips leave promptly. Bring your own kayak/canoe, paddle, life jacket, whistle, water, snacks, etc. Some of us will go swimming. See www.westerlylandtrust.org for more details.
September 3 10:00 AM Barn Island (CT)
We will launch @ 10:00 AM – no car shuttle. Depending upon the wind direction will determine if we head towards Westerly or Stonington. Meet at the boat launch. Take US 1 west from Pawcatuck for 2.5 miles to the traffic signal at Wequetequock Cove. Turn left on Greenhaven Road, then immediately right, on Palmer Neck Road. Follow Palmer Neck to the parking lot to the boat ramp.
PLEASE NOTE:- PFD's: Personal flotation devices or Life Jackets MUST be worn by all our paddlers properly zipped and/or buckled at all times while on the water, in the manner intended by the manufacturer. Persons not willing to follow this requirement are not permitted on our trips. Inflatable PFD's are NOT allowed.
- Sound signal (whistle, horn, etc.) is required.
- If weather is questionable, contact leader.
- Boat ramps can normally be used to launch canoes and kayaks but keep the boat ramp clear for boat trailers.
