The Brown Derbies, Brown University’s popular men’s a cappella singing group, performs a diverse selection of songs, ranging from Rock to Barbershop to R&B to Folk. Founded in 1982 by Darryl Shrock, the Brown Derbies are well known in the a cappella community for their unique use of syllables in the background vocals. With a strong tradition of on-campus performances, the Derbies have also toured consistently both nationally and internationally, with previous concerts in London, Paris, Cancun, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Texas and Florida, even performing at the White House for President Bill Clinton and Hilary Clinton. Since their founding, The Derbies have released 11 studio albums, and expect their 12th album to be released in the late spring/early summer of 2014. For their Westerly appearance, the Brown Derbies will present an upbeat 60-minute performance in the historic George Kent Performance Hall.
Doors for the performance will open at 5:30 pm and all seating for the event is general admission (open seating). The George Kent Performance Hall is handicap accessible.
