“Time, Tide, Wind and Water” features Nancy Nielsen and Madeline Beaudry
Swirls of blue and turquoise sea glass, wearable fiber art in muted shades of dawn and dusk, even summer fairies. “Time, Tide, Wind, and Water”, the July show at the Artists’ Cooperative of Westerly, celebrates the sunny, sultry, moonlit magic of summer. All are invited to the shows’ Opening Reception on the First Friday of the month, July 3, from 5-8 PM.
Nancy Nielsen’s unique photographic perspective takes viewers on a kaleidoscopic journey into the colors and images of summer. One of the artist’s goals is to enable the viewer to “see the unseen”, says Ms. Nielsen. “I enjoy taking pictures in nature and capturing images that people might not normally see, and/or taking photos from a different perspective. I also photograph still lifes of normal objects, as well as create abstract photos that leave people wondering. The ordinary becomes extraordinary!” As summer flies past, Ms. Nielsen’s photography offers the viewer an opportunity to capture and savor its fleeting wonder.
Offering a magical, mysterious perspective on nature’s wonders, Madeline Beaudry’s art celebrates the visible and invisible worlds of summer. A fiber artist and figurative sculptor, Ms. Beaudry spins tales of light and darkness, texture and color, realism and fantasy. Her greatest inspiration comes from nature. “Every piece I create draws somehow on the beauty, movements and mystery of the seen and unseen world around me. I mostly love when, through the introduction of a particular energy: heat, movement, time, etc., materials begin to take on a life of their own and participate in creating themselves. This becomes my working environment of constant expectation and anticipation of surprises and miracles. It is a beautiful place to be!” Eco prints on silk, warm-weather felts and fantastical sculptures will entice art lovers of all ages.
The show runs from July 1 to Aug 2.Images
